Flip Flop Hood Installation Guide
Step one:
Open hood and with the hood aligned properly, or in its original factory position, remove upper hinge bolt. Mount the lower (away from pivot) bolt hole of your Flip Flop Hood to the upper bolt hole on your factory hinge. This is only temporary and can be clamped in place if desired. Be sure to align them on center regardless of method. Repeat on other side.
Step Two:
Align the Flip Flop Hoods main pivot bolt to your desired location on the underside of the hood reinforcement. Center punch the mounting holes and drill the underside of the hood reinforcement with a 1/8th drill bit being careful not to use to much uncontrolled pressure as you do not want to score the hood skin when you break through the reinforcement.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before doing this step be sure to decide how far you would like the hood to hover over the engine bay when flipped. A Flip Flop Hood kit is supplied to safely hover 17 inches above your engine bay. To shorten this height simply cut off of the bottom (away from main pivot) and re-drill the supplied ¼ “ hole and continue. Be sure to check and recheck clearances along its resting location with the hood closed and in relation to the shock mount when fitting your Flip Flop Hood. Any modifications required should be done to the Flip Flop Hood Conversion and not to the vehicles. This does not void any warranties.
Repeat on other side.
Step Three:
Remove the hood and bolt the Flip Flop Hood lower bolt hole to the underside of the upper hinge hole on the vehicles factory hood hinges using the supplied low profile Hex Key ¼ “ nuts and bolts. Repeat on other side.
Step Four:
Mount the hood back on the vehicle only using the lower factory hood hinge bolt holes (These will be removed to activate the Flip Flop Motion). Then alight the Flip Flop Hood pivot mounting holes with the ones marked and drilled previously on the underside of the hood. Final rivet them in place using the supplied rivets. Repeat on other side. Lengthen the windshield washer hoses using the supplied hose and fitting. Adjust The hood gaps and final fitment.
