Those of you who are aware, during the pissy cold month of November, the Cruizin-style team embarked on a road trip of magnificent proportion. The newest trend that seems to be setting the cruising scene on fire is drifting, si, not being one to fall behind the times noticed this and has built a machine that can hold its own in the world of drifting.
In recent years, Simon, or Sideways Si as he's known to his friends has taken a huge fascination in the modified car scene. With a list of cars gracing his drive from 12 second RX7's, 2 gas guzzling M5's and 300zx's, the rear wheel drive fascination has always flowed through his veins. Now with his recent creation ruling the roads of Yorkshire it’s clear to see the guy has taste.
Over the last few months, Si has taken this standard R33 GTS to new heights, and has grown to become one of the most respected cars to hit the Yorkshire cruise scene. All that was left now was for CS to hunt him down and see what makes a self employed valeter tick.
Buffin up on our map reading skills (TOM TOM) we finally arrive at Si’s house to see the green monster parked on the drive next to his partners R33 GTS. Looking around the car you would clearly think that spunk loads of cash had been thrown at it, however, Si informs us that friendly persuasion and a few favors here n’ there helped make this car one of the most affordable drift machines in the country.
Even the lambo doors bolted to the body didn’t cost a penny - a call made to lambodoors.co.uk quickly sorted that out, with the sponsor pasted down the side, the lambo door guys clearly had there heads screwed on with the amount of attention the car draws in at local cruises. Keeping in touch with drifting scene, si has had the rear diff locked up, an evo 8 front mount to keep the intake temp down and a new hard pipe conversion keeps Si on track for his plans for the future. The GTS is packing 300 ponies under the hood, but to maintain the power through long drifts si is going to aiming to for another stable full under his right boot. A larger turbo and 7th injector are all planned for 2007 to keep the car at the top of the pack. Keeping the car level through the corners a front and rear strut brace have been fitted and a full set of JIC coilovers at each corner keep the ride as stiff as a pensioner with 2 blue pills.
As if tyre squealing action wasn’t enough at cruises to draw the crowds in, Si cashed in another favor at KAP motor sport in Keighley, coating the car in a layer of Kawasaki Green paint. With the body work out-shining the rims, a simple refurb and powder coat for the O.Z. wheels was needed.
Not to be outdone, more graphics were added, including his now famous catchphrase
IF ITS NOT SIDEWAYS, ITS NOT HAPPY.
